Ministry of Forestry Joins Planning for Sustainable JFN 2 Transition
The Ministry of Forestry
participated in the Jobs for Nature 2.0 (JFN 2) Partners Planning Workshop,
held in Nadi from 11th to 15th November, 2024.
Hosted by the Ministry of Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development, and Statistics, the workshop aimed to prepare for the institutionalization of the JFN 2 program following its conclusion in July 2025.
The Ministry of Forestry serves as an implementing partner for the JFN project, providing technical assistance for tree-planting activities. The Ministry also supports the selection of seedling vendors through the tender process, identifies participating groups and oversees planting activities.
The five-day event brought together key stakeholders to address challenges and propose solutions for transitioning the program into a sustainable framework. Implementing partners collaborated to design an exit framework, generate innovative strategies and enhance communication processes to maximize project outcomes.
The workshop concluded with a Project Steering Committee meeting on November 14, which involved nine Permanent Secretaries and the CEO of the Fiji National Provident Fund. Discussions focused on setting priorities, establishing deadlines and creating actionable outcomes for the program’s future.
