Opening of the Lutu Village Forest Park: Savumoli Streams Bubble and Forest Walk

Yesterday, Lutu Village in Naitasiri Province celebrated the opening of the Savumoli Stream Burble Waterfall and Forest Walk. The event was officiated by the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Hon. Kalaveti Ravu.
The Lutu Community-Based Forest Park is part of Fiji's plan to protect the environment, support sustainable development, and fight climate change. This project helps the government improve the lives of local people, protect natural resources, and boost the economy.
"This park is the first of many we plan to create, managed together with local communities," said Hon. Ravu. Another park in Nadarivatu will open soon, and more will follow next year.
A key goal of the Ministry of Forestry is to protect natural resources and promote eco-tourism. The Lutu Community-Based Forest Park serves as a model for earning money while teaching people about the importance of nature.
Fiji is also working on a new plan for sustainable tourism to promote green tourism that includes everyone. The Ministry of Forestry supports this by encouraging eco-tourism through partnerships between private companies, the government, and communities.
"We are committed to reducing carbon emissions and fighting climate change," said Hon. Ravu. The Lutu Community-Based Forest Park helps protect biodiversity and reduce carbon footprints, supporting global efforts to combat climate change.
Hon. Ravu praised the Lutu Community for their success in tourism and agriculture. This new park can be an example for other areas in Fiji.
The forest park is not only valuable for the environment but also serves as a learning space for communities, schoolchildren, and visitors to learn about nature.
"Environmental education is key to sustainable practices," said Hon. Ravu, stressing the importance of understanding the balance between human activities, biodiversity, and climate.
